top bakeries in dc.

i have a thing for cafes and bakeries. i don’t know why but i could sit in them for hours. one of my favorite things to do used to be to go to a cafe with my laptop, find an open couch, order a vanilla latte, and just get work done. i always did this at the end of every wedding season, where i would bring a notepad and just brainstorm ideas for next year. that’s where i came up with the FEATURING VENDORS post.

so today i will give you my top 3 cafes in the dc/va/md area. i am sure there are many more i haven’t even heard of, so if you have one you would like to contribute, leave it in the comments! i would llooovee to hear about them!

1. bayou bakery

not only do they have good, strong coffee, but they have really scrumptious homemade snacks to much on while  you enjoy your cup. their cafe au lait with an order of fresh fried beignets is my staple. however, just know that you WILL get powdered sugar all over you. they also have the most creative rustic decor and really comfy couches in the back which is were i like to spend my time. if you aren’t into cafe au laits, try their cortaditos….i promise you will not be disappointed!

2. northside social

northern social has a fun atmosphere with all sorts of homemade treats that surprise me every time i go. like nutella pop tarts. yes, you heard that right. i love to order a vanilla latte with whatever baked good is fresh that day. their teas also always look so good, but i have yet to try them.

3. buzz bakery.

this bakery is super cute (and if you go to the alexandria location it’s very child-friendly with a play area). every time i go i spend about 20 minutes trying to decide which cupcake to get. my current favorite is the loco moco or their coconut cupcake with lime filling…insanely good.

now i’m in the mood to go sit on one of their comfy couches, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee with a doughy snack :)

(if anyone has other recommendations for cute cafes/bakeries in the DC/MD/VA area I’d love to hear them! share in the comments!)
