this is the wedding day of a beautiful bride and a handsome groom. who even through the most unexpected turn of events at their wedding, kept smiles on their faces and had fun with their loved ones surrounding them. two people who are head over heels over each other, and know what a wedding day is really about.
the day started with a big, dark storm, and ended with a power outage at the venue. their garden-themed wedding ended up being indoors, in complete darkness surrounded by all the candles we could find. dinner was romantically eaten in the dark, they brought fans in to help AC being out, and the band was having an acoustic guitar being delivered while they were rigging a lap top to play itunes. many brides would have meltdowns, but i’ve never seen such an outpouring of love from guests, who made sure these two still had the time of their lives. the moment when all 100 guests surprised them by singing “don’t stop believin” in the dark as they entered their wedding reception, announced as husband and wife for the first time, is one that will be forever engrained into my memory as one of my favorite wedding moments of all time.
jen + jamie :: thank you for inviting me into your lives this past year to be with you on this day. it was certainly far from what we planned, but it was a true testemant to what wedding days are really all about. enjoy! :)
and i can’t end this post without including my favorite images of the day. about 30 minutes before we left, i was on the dance floor trying to take a picture of jen + jamie in the dark. as soon as they looked at me to smile, the lights magically turned back on and jen’s reaction is one that still brings tears to my eyes every time i look through this series.
