i sat in the middle seat on my flight to Alaska, flipping through the pages of Brides magazine, when all of the sudden i flip a page and…what? is that my cake?!?! it IS! (and when i say MY cake, in no way shape or form does this mean that i actually baked anything. obviously) i had been contacted awhile back from the editor of Brides about a cake special they were running, but wasn’t even thinking about that conversation as i was casually browsing though. once i saw the cake, all of the sudden i sat straight up, smiled, and then felt overwhelmingly awkward being trapped by people on both sides while attempting to internalize my excitement of seeing one of my images in print. there is just something about physically seeing your images printed that is so special (more on that later) versus just on a computer screen. and yes, for all those rolling your eyes out there…i realize…it is just a CAKE. not even something human. not even a dog. just a simple picture of a cake- but seeing it in print in one of the magazines i subscribed to when i was planning my wedding is still just oh so fun :)
and i definitely have to give credit to the REAL baker of the cake- Lara Stuckey from Fluffy Thoughts baked this cake for Jennie + Julius’s wedding this past spring. See more about her and her amazingness here!
(it’s the first cake featured)
