I was so flattered when Evelyn reached out to me wanting to feature Charlotte’s nursery on her blog. Home decorating is another passion of mine, and finishing Charlotte’s nursery when I was pregnant felt like a task that I was never going to complete. I was inspired by so many styles that I had a tough time deciding when direction to go in.
There were a few things I did know::
1) I didn’t want a “theme”.
2) I didn’t want a color scheme.
3) I wanted bits of Chris and I to be reflected.
4) I wanted a natural, almost bohemian feel to it (the closest thing to a theme I came to).
5) I wanted to find beautiful pieces from all over that didn’t match at all, however when put together somehow looked beautiful and made sense.
I literally looked at cribs for months unable to make a decision. (I was torn between white, wood and a fun tiffany’s blue crib). I literally looked at gliders for months…also unable to make a decision. However, once I saw this crib I knew it was the one, and the rest of the nursery came together just as I had imagined. From the handmade furniture passed down through generations, to the art pieces Chris and I have collected throughout our travels (and even pictures of my dad’s world travels) and the handmade mobile….it is truly a reflection of our family. This room is officially my favorite room in the house.
My favorite detail in the room? The framed quote from Alice and Wonderland which truly means so much to me.
” Actually,
the best thing you could have given her
was a lifetime of adventures…”
– Lewis Carroll
