i recently posted the destination wedding i shot in cartagena, colombia. well, after the wedding festivities were done my husband, my cousin melissa, and my friend michelle and i all stayed to have some more fun exploring the country of colombia. this isn’t the first time i have visited, but everytime i go i discover something new and find a new passion for it. if you have been reading this blog long enough you know that my entire family is {crazy} colombian. to explore where they grew up is always so fun and interesting. it’s hard to imagine my mom growing up on these beaches, or my dad walking through the cobblestone streets we walked. but they did. we even stayed with my cousin and visited where my mom went to grade school as well as the house they grew up in. we ate way way too many empanadas (that’s a lie there is no such thing as too many empanadas), drank way too much aguardiente (there is definitely such a thing as too much aguardiente), got to partake in the famous yearly celebration of Carnaval (similar to Mardi Gras minus topless girls but add foam party) and just took in every city we visited with spontaneity and adventure. like every trip i ever go on, there are high moments (going out with my family and dancing in Barranquilla), and low moments (taking 6hrs to get to Barranquilla when they told us it would take 2 hrs in a van with 3 other families and a husband who hates crowded spaces). but it’s those moments that make each trip so unique and memorable. it was truly the time of our lives.
so here is a little bit of the beautiful country of Colombia. scattered throughout cartagena, santa marta, taganga, and barranquilla.
some of these shot with a little bit of good old fashioned film :)
