Notes on photography, the stories we love, and the experiences we collect along the way

For us, it’s the experiences, the travel, the connections, and the iconic fashion of weddings that we love. This blog is our inside edit of all those things and more.

virtual coffee date.

i’ve seen these virtual coffee dates in the past, and i thought i would do my own to try something different. a new series of blog posts written as if you and i were at an adorable coffee shop, just chatting over mugs of hot lattes. sipping away and catching up on each other’s lives.

if we were having coffee today, i would be drinking a vanilla latte sprinkled with cinnamon. i would tell you that it’s currently snowing outside, which makes me love the big, fat windows in my office even more. my morning ritual of getting on the computer when it’s still dark out and everyone is still asleep, lighting a candle and having a hot cup of tea/coffee is made so much better by snow.

if we were having coffee today, i would tell you that i’m overly excited about going to london in a few weeks with two of my favorite girls. i’ve never been to europe, and we have all sorts of fun and fancy things planned…to include having high tea at Kensington Palace, staying in our own flat with a fireplace and patio, and driving through the countryside. (driving on the opposite side of the road, stick shift with the left hand…will be interesting)

if we were having coffee today, i would tell you that every now and then, i wish i was just an employee, and not the owner. that way i could leave work, “the numbers”, and all the responsibilty that comes not only with running your own business…but actually growing it…behind.

if we were having coffee today, i would tell you that being on the set of the TLC show for the day, Randy to the Rescue, (the spin-off of Say Yes to the Dress), was a completely different experience. It was interesting to see how everything comes together to make a show, and it was a very fun to get to work behind the scenes with Hitched Salon. For all you Randy Fenoli fans, he is just as charming in person as he is on camera.

if we were having coffee this morning, i would tell you that i really love being home. as much as i love traveling, i love being home just as much if not more (maybe..). it feeds into my (surprising to most people) introverted self. the place where i can stay in pajamas all day, organizing, cooking, and relaxing on the couch with a book. this is the longest stretch (6 weeks) that i’ve been at home in over a year, and it’s just been really nice.

if we were having coffee this morning, i would tell you i’m acting all sorts of crazy in the kitchen lately. i’ve started backtracking and using jarred sauces, canned vegeetables, and other things that i would normally make from scratch. it saves time and energy, and these days i’m all for it. i still mostly make everything from scratch, but i’m fine with the compromise.

if we were having coffee this morning, i would tell you that i really do feel so lucky sometimes to do what i do. it is by far a normal job with a normal schedule, but it is every bit fulfilling and i can honestly say i love my job. and since we are great friends having warm cups of coffee this morning, i can tell you that i say that knowing that if i had stayed at my corporate job, i would be making much more income, with far less hours (and weekends off), than i do now….but i would still pick photography every day given the chance.
