For us, it’s the experiences, the travel, the connections, and the iconic fashion of weddings that we love. This blog is our inside edit of all those things and more.

a christmas surprise.

Christmas is around the corner and as we all know, giving is so much sweeter than receiving. This year, I wanted to do something special- though I wasn’t sure how or what. I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to this gift I’ve been blessed with, to be able to do what I love. So this Chrismakwanzika, I want to share with someone special the gift of photography. A free photo session with {a}strid photography  to someone who is totally amazing and deserves a beautiful photo session of themselves or their family. A fun little Christmas surprise! :)

However, since all of you (blog readers) have been and continue to be such a HUGE part of {a}strid photography, I want YOU to be the ones who nominate who this special person should be. Simply send me an email letting me know who you think should should receive a free photo session of their own and why. There are no limitations to why you think this person/family deserves this gift. Maybe they have gone through some hard times, or lost a special person, or are always giving to others and never themselves, or simply wouldn’t be able to afford one otherwise. It truly can be anything. Email me your thoughts to and I will be choosing a winner on December 20th!

What :: Free photo session for someone truly special and amazing

Who :: YOU email me with their story and why you think they should receive this

When :: Winner will be chosen on December 20th!

Where :: Email submission to astridphotography@gmail.com

Now it’s up to you all to give someone a fun little extra gift this holiday! :)

xoxo

    Hi,

First of all this is a wonderful idea and thank you for giving of your talents to others.

I would like to nominate my sister-in-law, Tara Patmore, and her family. She and her husband, Greg have three boys – Ian and Noah are 13 and Brody is 10. They are a wonderful, loving, giving family just to name a few things I love about them. Their daughter/sister was born in Feb. 2006 and died at 10 months old in Dec. 2006, 1 week before Christmas that year. She was born seemingly healthy but just a day after bringing her home she was rushed to the ER for breathing difficulties. Tara felt something was terribly wrong. They spent countless hours by her bedside in Hershey as they hoped and prayed the medical staff could figure out what was causing her to be so “sick”. She required breathing assistance, feeding assistance and eventually developed seizures and a heart condition. Emma was put through innumerable tests, scans, biopsies, bloodwork with the same results each time – “we don’t know what’s going on”.
She was discharged to home with a tracheostomy, feeding tube, and required around the clock monitoring, care and therapies. Tara never was able to let Emma sleep in the nursery upstairs, the room Tara & Greg prepared and painted so beautiful for her before she was born. It is beyond me how they and their brave boys have dealt with the loss of Emma over these years. Every day must be a challenge and yet they give of themselves and help others without fail.
The family did a photo session with Emma in the months she was at home but haven’t had any done since that time. I think they would love this opportunity and I would love it for them.

    Thank you and God bless!!!

Hi Shannon, thank you so much for sharing your story. I can’t imagine what it takes to go through something like that but I will definitely keep them in my thoughts.
